BOOK REPORT DUE FRIDAY
Monday
Warm-up: Monday 7
Lesson: Due to an illness I had a substitute today. The class was given the next spelling unit to complete. No spelling test this week because of the book reports. Students were instructed to complete a Reading Laboratory after they finished the spelling packet.
HW: Spelling packet, 3x each, sentences
Tuesday
Warm-up: Tuesday 7
Lesson: Today we will begin by reviewing the vocabulary words for our next story. We will read “All Summer in a Day” on page 42 in our literature books. After we have finished reading the story, we will take a short check test.
HW: Write a one page ending to the story “All Summer in a Day”
Wednesday
Warm-up: Wednesday 7
Lesson: Students will be able to identify correct subject-verb agreements.
HW: None
Thursday
Warm-up: Thursday 7
Lesson: The class will first work in their grammar workbooks on page 115 ex 1 & 2, and page 116 ex 1 & 2. Using dry erase boards, we will check our answers.

Monday
Warmup: Monday 6
Lesson: A brief pretest will be given over spelling lesson 5. We will discuss the long U and short U vowel sound. Students will take a singular noun ending in Y and make it plural. After the spelling lesson, we will briefly discuss the vocabulary words from last weeks story “The Stone”.

Tuesday
Warmup: Tuesday 6
Lesson: We will be reviewing action, linking, and helping verbs today. Students will complete grammar workbooks pages 15 - 20.

Wednesday
Warm-up: Wednesday 6
Lesson: Due to the fall picture schedule my students will be coming in and out of the classroom throughout the class period. As a result, we will correct missed items from the grammar workbook, pages 15-20.

Thursday
Warm-up: Thursday 6
Lesson: We will begin to tackle essay writing today. Students will be able to develop a prewriting plan for a five paragraph essay.
HW: Spelling Test Tomorrow
Friday
Warm-up: Journal entry
Lesson: After the spelling test we will use the prewriting plan created yesterday, and write a five paragraph essay.

Monday
Warm-up: Monday 5
Lesson: Today I will be absent due to a workshop we are required to attend. The class will be given a pretest over their new spelling words. Students will be required to complete spelling packet 4 (long i). Once completed, the class will be required to complete a lesson over vowel diphthongs and vowel-consonant combinations.
HW: Complete spelling packet, 3x each, five sentences
Tuesday
Warm-up: Tuesday 5
Lesson: We will be reading “The Stone” today in class. Story elements will be reviewed, and students will complete a plot peak once we finish reading the story. A short check quiz will be given after the story.

Wednesday
Warm-up: Wednesday 5
Lesson: The class will complete “response and analysis” questions 2-5 over “The Stone”. We will also discuss helping verbs today. Students will be able to define and identify helping verbs (pgs. 320-321).

Thursday
Warm-up: None
Lesson: Using laptop computers, the class will take the first Thinklink Learning Language Arts assessment test. Results from this test will be printed shortly. I will send an email when I send the results home.

Warm-up: None
Lesson: The class will be attending an assembly today in the gym from 8:15-9:15. If there is time, we will take our spelling tests.

Lesson: The class period will begin with a brief quiz over story elements. After the quiz, we will study the long O sound. Students will complete spelling packet three. Criteria for our first book report will be given and explained to students today. This book report is due September 28.

Warm-up: Wednesday 4
Lesson: Today we will discuss action and linking verbs. Students will complete exercises 1-4 (even problems) on pages 315-317.

Thursday
Warm-up: Thursday 4
Lesson: Students will be able to distinguish between action and linking verbs. We will work together on exercises 5 & 6 (pg. 318).

Friday
Warm-up: Journal
Lesson: 1) spelling test over lesson three words. 2) Review story elements. 3) Read “Triumph and Tragedy” and discuss the setting.
