Lesson: Today we will read and discuss “Ta-Na-E-Ka,” page 134-141. We will take a short check test after reading the story. We will also review sentence combining by completing lesson 28 in our Language Arts TCAP Coach book.

Lesson: 6.1.spi 5. Students will select appropriate synonyms, antonyms, and homonyms within context. This week’s spelling lesson deals with homonyms. The class will identify and correctly use the homonyms used from this lesson. I will also give back and discuss the results of the December Thinklink assessment today. SPELLING TEST FRIDAY!

Homework: Spelling packet, 3x each, ten sentences.

Warm-up: Tuesday 19
Lesson: 6.1.spi.17. The students will draw inferences from selected texts. I will introduce and read the story, “from Bud, Not Buddy”, by Christopher Paul Curtis pages 127 – 130. We will discuss how to make inferences. Once complete we will identify within context a variety of appropriate sentence-combining techniques 6.3.spi.8.
