Lesson Plans: Aug. 27 - 31

Monday

Warmup: Monday #2

Lesson: Class will begin with a pretest over spelling unit two. We will discuss the long e sound. Once this activity is complete, the students will have time to work on their spelling packet 2. If time permits, we will review and discuss nouns. Students will complete exercise 1 & 2 on page 295.

HW: Packet #2, three times each, sentences

Tuesday

Warmup: Tuesday #3

Lesson: We will continue to discuss nouns. Today we will focus on compound, common, and proper nouns. Students will complete pages 3-6 in their grammar exercise workbook.

HW: Pages 3-6

Wednesday

Warmup: Wednesday #3

Lesson: Today we will discuss plot. We will begin by talking about the elements that make up the plot: exposition, initial incident, rising action, climax, falling action, and resolution. The students will be able to identify elements on a graphic organizer called a plot peak. The class will read “The Flight of Daedalus” and place certain events from the story on the appropriate place on a plot peak.

Thursday

Warmup: Thursday #2

Lesson: Using a piece of construction paper, the students will create a flip book. Each page will contain one story element with its definition. Example: Plot- A series of events that make up a story. We will use these flip books to review for Tuesday’s quiz over story elements.

Friday

Warmup: Journal- The most fun I ever had was when….

Lesson: After the journal, we will begin our class with a spelling test. Students will have an opportunity to complete their story elements flip book after the test.

HW: Study for story element quiz
